Multi‑Site Cinema Seating Relocation for Cubic FM and Vue
Tue 17th February 2026Goodwins Removals & Storage was appointed by Cubic FM to support a major seating relocation programme across multiple Vue cinemas across the UK. The project required the coordinated collection and redistribution of cinema seating from eight active Vue locations as far away apart as Edinburgh, Norwich and Bristol, with all items delivered into two designated receiving cinemas for refurbishment and reuse.
Project Overview
Vue is undertaking a phased refresh of its auditoriums, and Cubic FM engaged Goodwins to manage the physical movement of seating between sites. Each cinema had a defined allocation of chairs scheduled for removal, with quantities varying from 40 to more than 120 units per location. All seats arrived boxed, with each package weighing approximately 55kg — a significant manual‑handling challenge that demanded careful planning and specialist equipment.
The programme was delivered over a concentrated two‑ to three‑day window to align with Vue’s operational requirements. All work had to be completed outside peak trading hours to avoid disruption to customers and ensure auditoriums remained fully functional during opening times.
Operational Approach
Goodwins deployed a dedicated commercial removals team experienced in high‑volume, time‑sensitive projects. Working closely with Cubic FM’s project managers, the team coordinated access at each of the eight collection sites, navigating a mix of loading bays, restricted corridors, and back‑of‑house routes typical of busy cinema complexes.
To safely manoeuvre the 55kg boxed seats, the crew utilised specialist moving equipment including heavy‑duty trollies, skids, and piano wheels. This allowed the team to transport multiple units efficiently while maintaining strict safety standards and protecting flooring and fixtures within the cinemas.
Once collected, the seats were transported to two receiving Vue sites. Here, the team managed controlled unloading and internal distribution, ensuring all items were positioned exactly where Cubic FM required them for the next phase of the refurbishment programme.
Challenges and Solutions
-
Restricted working hours: All moves were scheduled during early‑morning and late‑evening windows to avoid customer impact. Goodwins’ flexible scheduling ensured the programme remained on track despite tight access periods.
-
Heavy, bulky items: The 55kg boxed seats required specialist handling. Purpose‑built equipment and trained operatives ensured safe, efficient movement throughout.
-
Multi‑site coordination: With eight collection points and two delivery destinations, communication was critical. Goodwins maintained continuous liaison with Cubic FM to sequence collections, manage vehicle loading, and keep all parties updated in real time.
Outcome
The project was completed on schedule, with all seating successfully collected, transported, and delivered to the designated Vue sites. Goodwins’ ability to manage complex, multi‑site logistics under tight time constraints demonstrated the company’s capability in delivering high‑volume commercial moves with minimal operational disruption.
